 WHAT IS EXTENSION    

The word extension is derived from the Latin root's  'ex ' meaning 'out' and  'tension' meaning  ' stretching ' . EXTENSION is that type of education which is stretched out to people in the natural areas far and near beyond the limits of education institute to which the formal type of education is usually confined .
 

According to Dr JP legan Extension education is the practical science integrated with the content of research collected from experience relevant principals obtained from behavioural sciences and useful technology that philosophy principles and method are related to the problems of rural people and youth .
 
According to doctor Douglas Extension is an education which AIIMS to bring about a change in the attitude and behavioural of the people with whom work is done .

*** The term extension education was first used by the Cambridge University of England in the year of 1873 AD.
