The Barna Dam is a gravity dam on the Barna River in Badi Tehsil of Raisen district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Barna River is a major tributary of Narmada River. It is about 100 km (62 mi) east of Bhopal.

The dam was constructed by the Madhya Pradesh Water Resources Department. The primary purpose of the dam is irrigation and it was completed in 18.oct.1978

Barna Dam is also known as Barna Dam Irrigation Project. Its estimated cost is around 581 crores. The Barna Dam is built on the Barna River. The origin of Barna river is from Raisen district itself. Barna Dam is spread over an area of ​​about 7700 hectares. The length of this dam is 432 meters. The height of this dam is 47.70 meters. The width is 4.60 m. There are 8 gates in Barna Dam. This dam is built for irrigation.
Villages of Raisen and Sehore districts get benefit from this dam.
This is also a picnic spot .

In rainy season the  surrounding of this dam is awesome.

Here is a glass house that is very beautiful . Near this glasshouse here is a garden in this garden so many kind of Roses and other flowers and beautiful Lawan .

Here is an underground tunnel most of the time it has been closed . Because it's dangerous here is no proper lighting .

Here is a beautiful forest area arround this water reservoir. You can come here for a picnic with your family but when you come here keep your food and water with you because here is no food shops for food and other thing .so come here and enjoy a day and make unforgettable memories.
 
HOW TO REACH
Barna Dam is a famous tourist place in Raisen district and this dam is situated in Bari Tehsil. This dam is situated at a distance of about 5 kilometers from the main highway road. The road leading to Barna Dam is very bad at some distance. Barna Dam is easily accessible by both bike and car and has plenty of parking space.
